At Sport Select Alberta, we’re part of the Western Canada Lottery Corporation’s sports wagering network, serving Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Hybrid is the best way to describe our system – online odds browsing meets in-store validation. It’s simple: you look up what you want at sportselect.com, pick your games, build your ticket, and create a QR code. That code’s all you need; head out to a Lotto Spot retailer and finish things off at the counter.
Supporting local stores matters to us, so even with the online piece, it’s those retailers that issue your printed tickets. You move back and forth between online and retail, but your bet gets locked in-store.
PRO•LINE and Core Betting Products
PRO•LINE is at the centre of what we do. You’re calling the outcome – is it the visitor, tie, or home win? All the picks on your ticket must come through for a payout. That’s not always easy, but the odds reflect it.
There’s OVER/UNDER too. Instead of winners, you bet on whether the score will go above or below a number we set. Losing the match doesn’t matter if the score lands in your zone. A different way to look at games.
POINT SPREAD spices up things further – now the favourite starts with a handicap. They need to win by more, or the underdog gets a boost. And here’s the flexible part: you don’t need separate slips. Throw PRO•LINE, OVER/UNDER, and POINT SPREAD onto a single ticket.
Something different? PROPS are for those who care about specific events or players – not just always about the scoreboard.
Pools and Combo Play
Pools are more like a group challenge. Everybody predicts the same fixed list of games, and the prize pool splits among the best. If there’s no perfect ticket, those who got closest get a share. Each entry is always five dollars. Usually, you’ll spot twelve games on a pool card.
Combo Play changes things up. You’re not betting on just one combination but multiple possible sets. Choose three up to six events, and your wager gets multiplied by all unique combinations. Take four games and select a three-event combo at two bucks per try – that’d run you eight dollars for four sets. Even if part of your picks miss, there’s still a payout for the combinations you hit.
Pool and Combo Play are for those who like coverage rather than going all-in on a perfect run.
How Bets Get Placed
Start with sportselect.com for the odds. We keep those odds up-to-date for every market. Pick what you want – PRO•LINE, OVER/UNDER, POINT SPREAD, PROPS, Pools, Combo Play, it’s all there.
You can play with up to eight events on a regular ticket. Combo Play requires between three and six. Just enter your wager amount. There’s a 100 dollar limit per selection on standard tickets, and for Combo Play it’s up to 20 dollars per combination before multiplying.
Hit the ticket builder when your picks are locked, create your QR code, and look up the closest Lotto Spot retailer. Walk in, present the QR code, get your printed ticket. Before leaving, double-check everything on your ticket – odds, picks, amounts. Important: sign your ticket right away. Losing an unsigned ticket is a headache – someone else could claim it.
Limits and Restrictions
There’s a daily maximum of 500 dollars per person for Sport Select betting at any retailer, except Pools. The most you’ll see on individual tickets is 250,000 dollars.
For standard tickets, wagers can be up to 100 dollars per pick, and Combo Play uses a 20 dollar cap before the multiplier. Maximum eight events for regular tickets, three to six for combos. It all helps keep things manageable and fair for both us and you.
Prize Claims
Winning up to 1,000 dollars? Retailers will pay you out, as long as there’s enough cash on hand. If you win more than 100 dollars, sometimes you might get referred elsewhere or be asked to claim by mail, depending on the situation.
Big winners (over 1,000 dollars) need to go through our prize offices or mail-in process. You’ll be booking an appointment for in-person picks. Always sign your ticket and fill out information on the back first.
A few reminders. You have one year from the last game on your ticket to claim any prize. Lost tickets in mail – unfortunately, we can’t be responsible for these.
Contact Player Care at 1-800-665-3313 if you’re unsure about claiming. For mail-ins, send to: Western Canada Lottery Corporation Prize Payout, Suite 300, 242 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0T8.
Our Retail Network
You’ll find us in more than 5,000 Lotto Spot locations. The network stretches across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and takes in Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut too. From Calgary to Regina, Edmonton and Winnipeg, and plenty of smaller communities, you’re usually close to a location.
Search for a retailer near you using our locator. Just note, your device’s location has to be switched on.
The coverage is broad – urban centres, rural spots, and up north, all included.
Online Platform Access
sportselect.com is our home base. Here, you check real-time odds, build tickets, read the fine print, and generate QR codes. We don’t have an app, but the site runs smoothly on mobile browsers – optimized for whatever device you use.
You’ll find dedicated sections for Pools, Combo Play, PROPS. Curious about last week’s games or earlier? The results area helps you see how things have been trending.
MVP Membership
By joining as an MVP member, you can save picks and QR codes so you don’t lose track. It’s about convenience – not rewards or bonuses.
Signing up just means providing basic personal details and confirming your age (18+). Set up a password, and you’re ready to log in later. Your saved selections are easily retrievable, so you can reuse or review past strategies without starting from scratch.

Responsible Gambling
We’re signed on with Play Alberta’s responsible gambling measures. Self-exclusion and spend limits are built in. If you activate self-exclusion, you won’t be able to open new accounts or keep playing during restricted periods.
GameSenseAB adds extra info – stories about odds, how games work, and the risks. It’s about keeping betting as entertainment.
Support is also available from the National Council on Problem Gambling at 1-800-MY-RESET. Connects you with outside help fast when needed.
Just sign in to Play Alberta and look for self-exclusion options whenever you feel the need. Works across every lottery product in Alberta.
Ticket Validation and Security
Only official printed tickets count as proof of your bets. Signing is crucial; unsigned tickets are risky, and anyone who finds a lost one could claim the prize.
QR codes help us prevent manual mistakes at the till and make sure your online pick matches the printout. Once tickets are out with you, all responsibility is yours: keep them safe and dry. Photocopies aren’t a replacement if you need to make a claim, but can help as evidence if anything gets messy.
Payment Methods
It’s strictly cash at the retailer for buying tickets. QR code generated, Canadian dollars exchanged in person – no debit, no credit cards, no phone taps. Winnings under 1,000 dollars come in cash too if the retailer’s got it on hand; bigger prizes are mailed or issued through our main office as cheques.
Limits keep things reasonable: daily cap sits at 500 dollars per retailer for bets, keeping things accessible but not excessive.
Event Coverage
We put markets out for pro and college sports – hockey, football, hoops, soccer are mainstays. From North American leagues to a few international matches, with odds moving right up till game time.
Single-event wagering? For some games, yes – marked as such. Not just all parlays.
Futures bets are in the mix too: think championship winners, final standings. They stick around all season, sometimes months before they’re settled.
Customer Support
Player Care helps over the phone at 1-800-665-3313 during weekdays. Got feedback? We sort inquiries as they come.
There isn’t a live chat or email service. Everything goes by phone, direct to human reps. Routine stuff gets sorted at the retailer, anything more complicated – claims, account questions, rule confusion – goes up to Player Care.
Age and Who Can Play
You need to be at least 18. Retailers check ID before they’ll process a ticket. No bets for anyone under age, and that’s enforced with possible reporting.
Eligible players are residents or visitors in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the associate territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut). If you’re not actually present in those areas at the time, no ticket sale. And prizes are for eligible players only – not for anyone who uses a stand-in or proxy.
