Sport Select Terms and Conditions
1. General Provisions
These Terms and Conditions apply to all Sport Select wagering products operated by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Sport Select is a government-authorized sports lottery program governed by WCLC’s Rules and Regulations Respecting Lotteries and Gaming, official Game Conditions, Prize Structure Statements, and relevant provincial legislation. All wagers are subject to these terms, as amended from time to time.
WCLC may amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Amendments are effective upon publication. Continued participation in Sport Select constitutes acceptance of amended terms. Official Game Conditions and Prize Structure Statements override any information published elsewhere.
Sport Select is not affiliated or associated with any professional or amateur sports league, team, player, or other entity.
2. Eligibility and Restrictions
2.1 Age Requirements
Ticket sales to minors are strictly prohibited. WCLC does not pay prizes on tickets presented by minors. Retailers must verify age before completing any transaction.
2.2 Jurisdictional Limitations
Sport Select products are available only within Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. WCLC does not sell tickets through the internet except for Saskatchewan subscriptions on WCLC or Sask Lotteries websites. No third parties are authorized to sell Sport Select tickets online.
2.3 Retail Purchase Requirement
All ticket purchases must occur at authorized Lotto Spot retailers. Digital bet slips and QR codes may be generated at sportselect.com, but purchase is completed only upon full payment and issuance of a ticket by a retailer before the earliest event start time.
3. Wagering Rules
3.1 Ticket Issuance
Tickets are generated at authorized retailers following presentation of completed selection slips or QR codes and full payment before the earliest event start time indicated. A ticket becomes the official wagering instrument once issued and cannot be modified.
3.2 Wager Limits
Minimum wager amount per ticket: $2
Maximum wager amount per ticket: $100
3.3 Ticket Cancellation
Tickets may only be cancelled at the location of purchase, on the same business day, and prior to the first event start time. Cancellation is not permitted after the first event has commenced or at any other retailer.
3.4 Odds and Lines
Odds, lines, and spreads update in real-time before ticket generation. The odds printed on tickets at the time of purchase apply to those specific wagers. WCLC may adjust odds, lines, and spreads at any time before ticket purchase. Notification is provided if odds change between QR code generation and retail validation.
WCLC may suspend sales on any event or wager type to manage risk.
4. Results Determination
4.1 Official Results
Results are final when declared by WCLC and entered into its systems. Results are not affected by subsequent changes, corrections, disqualifications, or other events occurring after official determination.
In case of discrepancies, results recorded in WCLC systems are considered final; published website or other channel information is secondary.
4.2 Result Processing
Event outcomes are processed in WCLC’s systems following the conclusion of all games. Tickets cannot be validated on the same day as final event completion. Prize claims are possible only after overnight processing.
4.3 Sport-Specific Rules
Hockey: Ties require identical scores at the end of regulation time; overtime and shootouts are excluded.
Football: A three-point or fewer margin is treated as a tie.
Soccer: Ties require equal scores, including injury time.
Baseball: Games decided by one run are considered ties. Scheduled innings must be completed or 8.5 innings if the home team is ahead.
Basketball: Games decided by five points or less are ties.
Golf: Playoff holes do not affect wager results.
4.4 Player Participation Requirements
Basketball: Player must play at least one second.
Baseball: Player must participate in at least one play.
Football: Player must participate in at least one play in regular or extra play.
Hockey: Player must play at least one second in regular or extra play.
Negative net rushing or receiving yards are recorded as zero.
5. Prizes and Payouts
5.1 Maximum Prizes
Maximum prize per ticket: $250,000
Maximum daily aggregate prizes:
– Sport Select products: $5,000,000
– Futures products: $1,000,000
If aggregate daily prizes exceed these limits, all winning ticket prizes are proportionally reduced to ensure the caps are not exceeded.
5.2 Prize Claims
Prize claims must be submitted within one year of the event or draw date. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited after one year.
Prizes up to $1,000: Redeemable at participating Lotto Spot retailers.
Prizes from $1,001 to $250,000: Redeemed at designated Prize Payout offices by appointment or by mail.
5.3 Refunds
Tickets where all selected odds are 1.00 are automatically refunded. Tickets including events determined to be “past posted” (started or completed prior to purchase) are refunded.
Futures events are “All-In, Play or Not” unless otherwise stated. If an event or selection is cancelled, the associated odds are changed to 1.00 and a refund is provided.
5.4 Error Correction
WCLC may void obvious errors in wagers at its discretion. No liability is assumed for errors in odds display, event information, or system failures.
6. Account Requirements
6.1 MVP Service Accounts
MVP Service is a digital account system for saving picks, receiving notifications, and accessing promotions. Personal information is collected voluntarily for account creation.
Users without MVP accounts cannot access cross-device saving or notifications.
6.2 Account Responsibilities
Account holders are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials. WCLC assumes no liability for unauthorized access resulting from user negligence.
7. Privacy and Data Protection
7.1 Information Collection
Users may access sportselect.com without providing personal information. Personal information is collected only when submitted voluntarily (e.g., via email, surveys, contests, or requests). Collection purposes are identified at the time of submission.
7.2 Information Sharing
Personal information is not transferred or disclosed to unaffiliated third parties without user consent. Personal information is not sold or used for third-party marketing.
7.3 Traffic Analysis
Website traffic and data analytics are conducted using anonymous session tracking to improve website design. IP addresses are not associated with individuals except when legally required or during investigations of illegal conduct.
Google Analytics stores cookies to analyze user behavior. Users may opt to disable cookies, though this may limit website functionality.
8. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
8.1 Information Accuracy
Information on sportselect.com may contain errors. Winning numbers, odds, and event information on the website are not official. Official Game Conditions, Prize Structure Statements, and Rules and Regulations take precedence.
8.2 No Warranty
No warranties are provided regarding website availability, accuracy, or functionality. Users accept all risks from downloading files or accessing information from the website.
8.3 Limitation of Liability
WCLC bears no liability for damages arising from the use of Sport Select products or reliance on information provided through any medium. Liability for voided tickets is limited to the wagered amount.
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Manitoba. All disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Manitoba courts.
10. Contact and Enforcement
WCLC enforces these Terms and Conditions at its sole discretion. Violations may result in ticket voidance, forfeiture of prizes, or prohibition of future participation.
